Today

Was my last day at work.

I've worked at Hot Topic for almost two years. It was maybe the best first job I could have ever had. I met some of the best people I could have ever met working there. My boss Haley is at the top of that list. The day I brought my application in she was wearing a vintage suit with matching pillbox hat and black cat eye glasses. It was love at first sight. She did my interview and when she asked me "What new or unknown band would you tell people about if they asked for something new?" I answered Bid Sandy and His Fly-Rite boys and that they aren't new but not many people in our area listen to them. BUT she knew who I was talking about. Once I found out her and I share our favorite band we were on the way to best friendship! We are both Smiths geeks.

My work is all about being a family. I think that's why I'm so sad about leaving. I just left a family that I won't see all together probably ever again. We had an Ultimate Frisbee game. Two teams, four rounds(but really three we got tired) My team won and then we went to Red Robin for a celebratory and goodbye Shane dinner. It was an amazing night. I only cried at work once and no one noticed so it worked out.

Haley ha made me some mix CDs a few months back and they were amazing so I asked her for another before I left. Well I walked into the back room and she followed me and then pulled a stack of 6 CDs out of her purse and handed it to me with a card she made. and she told me "These are all the songs that are or were important to me or made me think of you." It was so thoughtful and amazing. I'm home in bed writing this blog to the "Don't You, Forget About Me" Mix CDs. Maybe only crying little bit.

Valentines Day Pinup Shoot!

This past Saturday was the group shoot with my Valentines Day set. The whole set we built down to the wire, as most are with me. Haha! But it ended up coming out well. I shot 4 girls and for $50 they are getting 5 edited and watermarked photos for the web. Now of course, I had a friend take some photos of me in the set, it wouldn't be a group shoot if I didn't get shot.
It was a fun set. It didn't photograph the way I hoped. I had to use my flash, which I don't like doing because it casts shadows. But without my flash the drapes came off purple. I'll give you a bit of a backstage look. I had set up shop in my bedroom, which meant clearing it out etc.

As I went to hang up the drapes I realized I had nothing to hang them on so I just(to the unhappiness of my mother) banged in a few nails and strung it up on rope!

Hard at work? I think not! I have a feeling I was just putting on music. Gotta love Podcast on iTunes when You can't get your music to work. I love Easy Ed's Variety Hour(now two hours) Look it up!!

MadMen Appeal Picture

SO it is really hard to get a good picture of these window sticker things. They keep their windows really clean and shiny there. They haven't changed out the image yet like I hoped they would have but I'll check again on my break today.

It was hard to get a good picture, the employees were looking at me funny and so were mall goers.

MadMen Appeal

I feel like MadMen has changed modern advertising this year(at least for Christmas). I am a mall employee(I work at Hot Topic, the kinda lame, but good enough, alternative music and clothing store) and when I leave to go on my break I keep seeing ass this vintage-y imagery in advertisements. The one I like it in the window of one of those engraving places. They have two different window stickers that they have been rotating in and out for the last month or so. One is of the perfect 50s Nuclear family. Blond Wife. Tall, dark, handsome Dad. Two kids, a boy and a girl. And their dog. Mom looks like Betty Draper, Dad looks like hes is supposed to look like Don(but really, can anyone be as good looking as him *swoon*) The little girl looks older than the little boy. And Mom is sitting on some sort of Mid-Century Modern chair. I need to get a picture of it. They just changed over to the other window sticker so I can't promise I can get one. The second one is theses two women from the back. They are both wearing overcoats and full skirted, knee length dresses with high heels. They are carrying bags and hat boxes and are wearing nice little hats. It is very cute. I enjoy seeing them when I walk around. Also in Macy's entrance from the mall there is a mannequin with nice vintage-y hair and in this gorgeous black dress. It has three quarter length sleeves, a full skirt and a great rolled collar. I know everyone likes a classic Christmas type look but I really think the success of MadMen is what's fueling all of this. And Frankly, I don't give a damn! I love seeing it. It makes the mall suck a little less.

I'll try to get pictures of all of the stuff! Luckily I don't go back until Monday! Yay! Weekend Off! Now I'm off to get ready to go to a Christmas Sale/event at my local vintage shop/tattoo parlor!
