Recent Thrifty finds!

$20 at a local used book store( Named after an Edgar Allan Poe story)
I love religious kitsch. I'm not into god and stuff (Gay kid raised baptist, they should expect me to revolt) for $4 I couldn't pass this up!
25 pieces. I don't like the color so I might sell it.

I've been all over lately! Sorry about the lack of posts! I had my KITSCHen shoot in Suburban Wonderland this weekend so I was gone for 4 days. and I have been trying to get it all edited etc. Also I have been babying two new tattoos( I decided to get two in one day, another 6 hours well spent)

Well with having this week off I have been trying to get a lot done but with all of my bills being due this week it makes it hard to thrift. And it does't help that I need new lights and its gonna cost me about $700. Which I don't have. I'm not sure how I'm getting it together but need to and soon because after m last shoot my lights just aren't doin' the trick.

By the way I started another blog as a make-shift website for KitschCake Photography, my pinup business!

SO if you like my work follow my blog!

Per Rueby's Request, there will be no more vlogs

Heres the photos of my stuff I got yesterday. I don't think I will be able to do daily posts if I don't do a video(but lets hope I can) With the moving and packing and finishing Beck's Birthday stuff and tryin go get KitschCake off the ground paired with school and getting ready for finals I don't have the time to do everything the way I like it.

BUT here are the things I scored on Monday. I don't have any pictures of things I bought today. I can try to shoot them tomorrow but I doubt I will have time. But I did start sewing one of the patterns I bought. I'm tres excited about that!

Can someone please buy me a pair of Freddies of Pinewood men's 40s jeans with the buckle back? Please? Cause really, I can sew you somthing or take in your clothes or paint a picture or sell you something in exchange. I can also do a three outfit shootin exchange! thats like 12 pictures. C'mon. I really need them. And Im getting shitty hours at work, need to pay for car insurance and my thrifting this week. Let's face it. I'm throughly disappointed in a whole lot of things right now.

My Bedside table

Is finally back, next to my bed! It's been hiding in the basement since January when I did the Valentines Day shoot! But the only reason I can have it in there is because I had to take everything else out pretty much because we are selling the house. I'm starting to pack things up, it sucks I hate it. I'm giving some of my vintage glassware away to friend who just got an appartment and has, like nothing. I want to sell my Crosey and buy a better one. But much to my dismay I have found out they discontinued the Stack-O-Matics. Which is what I wanted.

I love my Moonbeam Alarm clock! It is seriously THE best alarm clock I have ever used. And I will wake up from the light some mornings which is nice.

These are my vintage spex(sans lenses for the time being) And a vintage knitting magazine from my good friend and vintage love of my like Desiree, a.k.a. the art*deco*dame.

I'm sorting through all of my vintage in the near future so hopefuly more pictures soon!

Bad Blogger!

I'm sorry Im so behind! I haven't bought much thrifting lately. I got some Chalkwear fish and thats about it( and they are from the 70s, but they still look nice)

I have aquired something better than anthing I could find at good will. I got a new tattoo! Another one! I don't know how many of you are familiar with Grey Gardens but I am obsessed with it and the Beales. So Thats where the quote came from and the rest of the pieces are just things I like. I will take a better picture soon.

Oh yea, by the way I have been away so long because I was finishing up my school play and finishing up college stuff. Wellllll Now I was accepted to Montserrat College of Art(a.k.a. my number one school and the only one I would apply to) I sent them my acceptance and I will be attending in the fall!

Sweatin a sweater...well it's more a jumper

I've been working on knitting a sweater for, like 6 months. I can't constantly work on it, which sucks. But I've felt inspired today so im doing a bit of work on it. Im using a 1950s Crew Neck Ski Sweater pattern. Im going to alter the sleeve to make it have a short sleeve instead of a long one. I have a feeling I will never wear this one. Its kind of thick and It's not going to match any of my vintage, but it will look good with a nice pair of jeans so who knows. I started it when I was going through a minor goth stage. I go through them a few times year, I love goth and no on can stop me, we all have our guilty pleasures. Mine just happens to be Rasputina, Siouxsie Sioux and Jill Tracy)Back to why it wont match vintage. I made it in stripes, which isn't very anit vintage but its a purple and black stripe which is just gothy. But I dont mind. I know I will like to wear it during October when I usually feel the need to have a bit of creepy in my wardrobe.

SO I've never made a sweater before, and wow does this shit suck. I hate it but I know it will be worth it in the end. I know once I practice and I can do it I can do fancier things like knitting images into it. I want a cowboy sweater really bad. And I want one with some guitars and maybe some ones with atomic designs on it. And maybe make a silly kitschmas one and a cheesy one for halloween time. I love wearing sweaters sometimes, and I would love it more if I had exactly what I wanted(like a cowboy sweater)

Any pro knitters want to help me figure out how to make the sleeves short?

Actually, does anyone have a nice 1950s men's jumper pattern they would like to share. I can share what I have. I have a feeling I might not like this crew neck. so pretty much I might be looking for a whole new sweater pattern once I finish this one.
P.s. Im wearing my only pair of real glasses in the picture, all my vintage ones have no lenses, I can't afford that stuff!

MadMen Appeal Picture

SO it is really hard to get a good picture of these window sticker things. They keep their windows really clean and shiny there. They haven't changed out the image yet like I hoped they would have but I'll check again on my break today.

It was hard to get a good picture, the employees were looking at me funny and so were mall goers.

MadMen Appeal

I feel like MadMen has changed modern advertising this year(at least for Christmas). I am a mall employee(I work at Hot Topic, the kinda lame, but good enough, alternative music and clothing store) and when I leave to go on my break I keep seeing ass this vintage-y imagery in advertisements. The one I like it in the window of one of those engraving places. They have two different window stickers that they have been rotating in and out for the last month or so. One is of the perfect 50s Nuclear family. Blond Wife. Tall, dark, handsome Dad. Two kids, a boy and a girl. And their dog. Mom looks like Betty Draper, Dad looks like hes is supposed to look like Don(but really, can anyone be as good looking as him *swoon*) The little girl looks older than the little boy. And Mom is sitting on some sort of Mid-Century Modern chair. I need to get a picture of it. They just changed over to the other window sticker so I can't promise I can get one. The second one is theses two women from the back. They are both wearing overcoats and full skirted, knee length dresses with high heels. They are carrying bags and hat boxes and are wearing nice little hats. It is very cute. I enjoy seeing them when I walk around. Also in Macy's entrance from the mall there is a mannequin with nice vintage-y hair and in this gorgeous black dress. It has three quarter length sleeves, a full skirt and a great rolled collar. I know everyone likes a classic Christmas type look but I really think the success of MadMen is what's fueling all of this. And Frankly, I don't give a damn! I love seeing it. It makes the mall suck a little less.

I'll try to get pictures of all of the stuff! Luckily I don't go back until Monday! Yay! Weekend Off! Now I'm off to get ready to go to a Christmas Sale/event at my local vintage shop/tattoo parlor!
