Recent Thrifty finds!

$20 at a local used book store( Named after an Edgar Allan Poe story)
I love religious kitsch. I'm not into god and stuff (Gay kid raised baptist, they should expect me to revolt) for $4 I couldn't pass this up!
25 pieces. I don't like the color so I might sell it.

I've been all over lately! Sorry about the lack of posts! I had my KITSCHen shoot in Suburban Wonderland this weekend so I was gone for 4 days. and I have been trying to get it all edited etc. Also I have been babying two new tattoos( I decided to get two in one day, another 6 hours well spent)

Well with having this week off I have been trying to get a lot done but with all of my bills being due this week it makes it hard to thrift. And it does't help that I need new lights and its gonna cost me about $700. Which I don't have. I'm not sure how I'm getting it together but need to and soon because after m last shoot my lights just aren't doin' the trick.

By the way I started another blog as a make-shift website for KitschCake Photography, my pinup business!

SO if you like my work follow my blog!

THRIFTY FINDS LIKE WOAH!

You folks are gonna die when you see all of the stuff I've scored in the last day and there is more where that came from. There is this house at the end of my street that two spinsters lived in their whole life. Never threw anything away and filled every space in their house with stuff. One of them made all of her clothes cause she was 6 feel tall and a size 13 shoe. So I have found some AMAZING vintage dresses and patterns for cheap for the pinup costume closet. Iw ill take pictures tomorrow. We are showing the house in the morning so I have to hide it all. haha

GODDAMN I am excited like woah about this stuff. I seriously got like 20 pairs of stockings still on their carboard(One pair of Schaparelli stocking in the pink and black box) and I got like 20 more pairs that are from the 70s but still in packing for girls who forget stockings when they shoot. They still look good 50s or not.

I will start photographing I can't even process eveything yet. SO far I have spent $32. Be Jealous. I get to help go through the house on Tuesday. I am dipping into my savings for this. Who needs to pay or college? hahaha well I will but not yet!

Per Rueby's Request, there will be no more vlogs

Heres the photos of my stuff I got yesterday. I don't think I will be able to do daily posts if I don't do a video(but lets hope I can) With the moving and packing and finishing Beck's Birthday stuff and tryin go get KitschCake off the ground paired with school and getting ready for finals I don't have the time to do everything the way I like it.

BUT here are the things I scored on Monday. I don't have any pictures of things I bought today. I can try to shoot them tomorrow but I doubt I will have time. But I did start sewing one of the patterns I bought. I'm tres excited about that!

Can someone please buy me a pair of Freddies of Pinewood men's 40s jeans with the buckle back? Please? Cause really, I can sew you somthing or take in your clothes or paint a picture or sell you something in exchange. I can also do a three outfit shootin exchange! thats like 12 pictures. C'mon. I really need them. And Im getting shitty hours at work, need to pay for car insurance and my thrifting this week. Let's face it. I'm throughly disappointed in a whole lot of things right now.

Long time, no post!

Sorry for the break in posting. Im going through all of the college application stuff right now. Well more like getting my portfolio ready to show etc. Well my last bit of that is done on Thursday when I show my port. at my number one school, Montserrat college of Art. I'm really worried about that, I hate presenting in front of people I don't know, especially men. Hell I hardly like doing it in front of people I do know.( It's somthing with the worries that people hate me right off because I'm gay and pretty noticabley gay)

So on to lighter topics.
I finally got my Vampira portrait tattoo! I feel like I've been waiting forever but it's really only been about 1 year to six months. My tattoo artist did an amazing job, I really do love him and his work. Next time I visit him Im getting a Little Edie quote on my chest I think, or my vintage Rolifelx. I need to take a better picture of my tattoo before I post it. The one I have is pretty blurry. So Ill take one later.

On the music front, I saw Wanda Jackson a few nights ago and that was more than amazing! She put on a great show! Her flight was delayed and she hadn't even ladned in New York by the time I got to the club(after a three and a half hour drive to Brooklyn from Palmer Mass) She came right from the airport and got on stage 15 minuets later. She is rock n roll. I met her briefly after, sadly I didn't get to get a picture with her like I would have liked to, but she did sign a photo for me.

I've done some good thrifting lately. I got a pink 50s bathroom scale for $2. And Four girldes for $9 for the pinup studio. I also got a JFK ashtray and some new records.

I'll do a more in depth post about most/ all of these smaller topics hopefully with pictures.

Thank for follwing me byt the way, I have 13 follwers now and I need to thank Yesterday Girl for doing a little about me I really do appreciate it. I will try and do a lot more posting etc. And as usual in the retro blog-o-sphere I will do a give away when I get to 100 follwers!

Vintage Fabrics

On Friday Beck, who I have talked about before, and I went shopping together after I got out of school. She and I went to my friend's vintage shop Grace Black Vintage, where we found a whole bunch of great things (She has a Hey-Wake table, set of 4 chairs and buffet!!!!!) Next we moved on to Osgoods Fabrics in West Springfield, which oddly enough Retro Renovation(http://retrorenovation.com/) also visited this week and did a post about! She eye'd and photographed a fabric I almost bought! It's the Atomic one that was stained if you read her post! But I did end up buying somthing else. I bought an atomic reproduction fabric in green. It all looks like musical intruments. I have a couple pictures of the pattern.

It's a nice barkcloth! I got it for $9 a yard. I only bought two because I'm not sure what I'm making out of it yet. Is it weird that I want to make a cabana set out of it? I'd find a nice lining for it if I do it. I have my other one to model patterns off of. Who knows, if all goes according to plan I might be going to Viva!
